Praja Rajyam forms ad-hoc committees

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Faced with constant criticism from all quarters over delays in having organisational network in place, Praja Rajyam is slowly getting into an overdrive.

Starting a few weeks ago, the party now has ad-hoc committees in all except four districts. On Sunday, party spokesman Prakala Prabhakar announced Mahila Rajyam (women’s wing) committees for Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Krishna and Vizianagaram districts. Other districts would be covered in a phased manner. Mr. Prabhakar said after party president Chiranjeevi covered a dozen districts, the exercise of identifying local leaders was underway, bolstered by the ‘overwhelming response’ from people. Soon ad-hoc committees would be constituted for Adilabad, Prakasam, East and West Godavari districts. The districts he already touched include Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam Rural, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Anantapur, Kadapa, Medak and Nalgonda. From Sunday he started a tour of Nellore and Prakasam, which will last till January 10.

Interestingly, the party per se does not have an established State committee. Its work is being taken care of by the core committee. This apart, there is a 30-strong manifesto committee, divided into five sub-groups, which have submitted their draft papers to the high command on December 31.

As of now only its youth wing, Yuva Rajyam, has a State committee in place with Pawan Kalyan (president), Raja Ravitej (vice-president), D. Shravan, a senior HR executive, formerly with companies like Sierra Atlantic and Satyam Computers (general secretary), Bade Ravi (political secretary) and Nilesh (political adviser).

Mahila Rajyam conveners named on Sunday include M. Venkateswari (Hyderabad), Waheeda Begam (Ranga Reddy), C.H. Kavitha (Nalgonda), Mutha Jhansi (Krishna) and Meesala Geetha (Vizianagaram).
