Rotation in the reservation of seats in ZP, TP and GP for two terms likely Hassan: The State Government is planning to fix the rotation in the reservation of seats in zilla, taluk and gram panchayats for two terms. Now the rotation of seats is for a single term (five years),. Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Shobha Karandlaje said this during a press conference at Arsikere on Saturday. During the same meet, Ms. Shobha Karandlaje said that the Government has started the process for appointing development officers and 2,500 accounts assistants for gram panchayats. The Centre has granted Rs. 600 crore under the Gram Swaraj Yojana for decentralization of administration, she said and that the fund is being used from the past two years. She said that the administration is geared up to tackle drinking water problem during the summer season. Officers have been directed to list the names of problematic villages where water would have to be supplied through tankers. The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) has been requested to supply electricity in the morning to facilitate pumping of drinking water to villages, she said. Ms. Karandlaje said the gram panchayats are to pay accumulated arrears of Rs. 1,100 crore to KPTCL.
