SALEM: A major leak in the drinking water distribution pipeline along Attur main road in Ammapet remains unattended for the past few weeks. The Salem Corporation officials are yet to make any efforts to plug the leak. “We brought the issue to the notice of the civic officials a week ago, but we did not even receive a proper reply from them,” residents complain. The leak in the pipeline has affected water supply in a few residential colonies in Ammapet. “The water is hardly reaches the colonies at the tail end of the pipeline,” residents say. Further, a section of the busy Attur main road remains wet and slushy thanks to the continuous flow of drinking water surging from the leaking pipeline beneath it. “If the problem remains unattended for a few more weeks, it would damage the road,” people point out. Citizens urged the civic body to form a team of officials to inspect the pipelines on a regular basis in each zone.
