VSP to sponsor national TT championships

34 teams are participating in the men and women sections

Bihar Governor R.L. Bhatia will inaugurate the championships


VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is the main sponsor of the 70th senior National and Inter-State table tennis championships, being held at the Secretariat Indoor Stadium in Patna from January 5 to 11.

The championships, in which 34 teams are participating in the men and women sections and 450 players are competing in the individual events, have been named as the Vizag Steel-Pride of Steel 70th senior National and Inter-State table tennis championships, according to a VSP press release on Saturday.

Organisers

The tournament is being organised by the Bihar Table Tennis Association under the auspicious of the Table Tennis Federation of India. Bihar Governor R.L. Bhatia would inaugurate the championships on January 5 while Minister for Railways Laloo Prasad would give away prizes to the winners of team championships on Jan. 8. Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers and also Minister for Steel Ram Vilas Paswan would present prizes to the winners of individual events on Jan. 11.

CMD of VSP P.K. Bishnoi complemented the organisers for taking up the task of conducting the major event and conveyed his best wishes to the participants.

The following are seeding in men’s team event: Petroleum Sports Control Board, Railway Sports Promotion Board, North Bengal, Gujarat, Maharashstra-1, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra-B, Karnataka, Chattisgarh.

Women: P.S.P.B., North Bengal, West Bengal, Banks Sports Board, Maharashstra-B, Maharashstra-A, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, A.P., Delhi, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Chandigarh.
