Hyderabad Globe rallies to win

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Globe rallied from an early goal deficit to down a fighting Bolarum Sporting 2-1 in the SAAP Budweiser Premier League football championship at Gymkhana Grounds here on Saturday.

Sporting took the lead in the eighth minute when striker Yogesh headed in a cross from midfielder Rafique. Just before the break, Globe scored the equaliser when Habib Khan headed in a corner-kick from Akbar.

At half-time, the teams were locked one-all.

In the second session, Globe scored the match-winner through Saleh Dafala, who converted a penalty kick in the 67th minute after Sporting defender Ramakrishna handled the ball inside the area.

In another match, South Central Railway recorded a solitary goal win over AOC Centre, Mouzzam scored the winner in the 68th minute.

Easy for Coronation

Coronation Hockey Club defeated Boys Union 2-0 in the B-Division hockey league championship at Gymkhana Grounds here.

Centre-forward Alister Edwards scored the first goal in the eighth minute and in the 37th minute, left-in Munuswamy was on target.

Inter-schools hockey

Hyderabad Hockey Association will organise the fifth Inter-schools hockey tournament for Vemparala Purushotham memorial trophy at Gymkhana Grounds from January 21 to 29. Entries close by January 10 and should be sent to secretary, P. Kantaiah, secretary of HHA, Begumpet Police Stadium.

AV College wins title

AV College won the Osmania University inter-college korfball championship defeating Nizam College 4-3 in the final.

The result (final): AV College 4 (Madhu 2, Vishal, Brij Mohan) bt Nizam College 3 (Rahul 2, Monica).

Selection trials

HHA would organise selection trials on January 10 and 11 at Begumpet Police Stadium to pick the HHA XI to take part in the 20th all-India K. D. Singh Babu memorial prize money tournament in Lucknow from January 24.
