Benjamin hits century

HYDERABAD: A century by Benjamin Thomas (117, 12x4, 2x6) helped Sardar Patel College record a convincing, 73-run win over St. Joseph’s Degree College in the quarterfinal of Osmania University inter-college cricket tournament here on Saturday.

The scores: Quarterfinals:

SP College 252 for three in 35 overs (Benjamin Thomas 117, Parthajala 54, Shandhilya 44) bt St. Joseph’s Degree College 179 for nine (Naveed 89 not out).

Aurora Degree & PG College 288 for nine (Praneeth 87, Sandeep Rajan 43, G. V. Sridhar 40, Nayeem three for 49) bt Anwar-ul-Uloom Degree College 155 (Faiyaz 35, Navin five for 20).

Nruptanga Degree College 189 (Santosh 58, Nachiketa three for 27) lost to Bhavan’s College, Sainikpuri, 190 for six (Nimesh Reddy 80, Tunga 37).

Veterans cricket

Hyderabad Veterans Cricket Association will organise South Zone veterans championship from January 18 to 21 at Gymkhana Grounds in Hyderabad. For details contact 99890 49000.

Tennis tournament

The fourth CMR-AISTA juniors’ tennis tournament will be held at the Officers’ Club, Visakhapatnam from Jan. 7 to 10.
