SHIMLA: All higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, including the tribal belts of Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur and Pangi and Bharmaur areas of Chamba district, experienced a heavy snowfall on Saturday and icy wind conditions prevailed all over the State.

Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul Spiti, was the coldest place at minus 8.9 degrees Celsius, said the weatherman. There were reports of heavy snowfall during the past 24 hours on the top peaks of Pangi and Bharmaur sub-divisions of Chamba. Kalpa, the tribal town of Kinnaur, was also reeling under cold wave conditions with the night temperature falling below zero.

Although a mild snowfall was reported in Kinnaur, the temperature was minus 2.5 degrees.

There were reports of heavy snowfall on the 13,500-foot-high Rohtang Pass.
