IS IT RIGHT?: Members of the PAC inspecting the gauge of a pipeline of the Sripada Yellampalli project in Karimnagar district on Saturday. YELLAMPALLI (KARIMNAGAR DT): The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Public Accounts Committee’s visit to the Sripada Yellampalli project site on Saturday turned out to be a damp squib with committee chairman Yanamala Ramakrishnudu abruptly ending his tour . Mr. Ramakrishnudu visited the project site well in advance and waited for the other committee members for about two hours. After the arrival of members consisting of legislators belonging to the Congress, TDP, TRS, CPI and the CPI (M), they inspected the project site and spoke to the irrigation officials. Meanwhile, land oustees of the project complained about non-payment of compensation for their houses and about no proper relief and rehabilitation package by the government. The PAC chairman assured the oustees of solving their problem by raising the issue in the coming Assembly session. Even as Telugu Desam Party legislator Nagam Janardhan Reddy was stating that they had come to inspect the irregularities in the laying of pipelines for the Yellampalli Lift Irrigation project, the PAC chairman abruptly ended his visit and left for Hyderabad by train. The PAC members also inspected the gauge of a pipeline at Kukkalagudur village in Ramagundam mandal and at Mujampalli village in Velgatoor mandal.
