I am no non-local to Khammam, says Renuka

Staff Reporter

KHAMMAM: “Dare not call me a ‘non-local. I am here forever. I am permanent for the place. My victory is as certain as my contest from Khammam” says Union Minister of State for Woman and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury.

Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, she said she enjoyed a special bond with Khammam.

Having represented the Lok Sabha constituency for nearly a decade, she said she would have the first right to seek re-nomination.

Unique

Khammam parliamentary constituency had emerged unique by all means after the delimitation exercise. It has five of the Assembly segments reserved for the Scheduled Tribes.

Top on agenda

The development of the district headquarters town as a planned city was high on the agenda.

It was for the people and elected representatives of the town to choose between the Chandigarh model of development or the Tokyo model.

Tokyo was one of the poorly planned cities in the world.

The development activity in Khammam had gained momentum.

But further development of the town should have a planed approach.
