Coimbatore: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Coimbatore, has announced reduction in the outright sale price and fixed monthly charges of ADSL modems for broadband customers. The slash in rates comes into retrospective effect from December 1, 2008. A release from the BSNL said that reduced sale price of modem is Rs. 1,000 for Type I and Type III and Rs. 1,600 for Type II and Type IV. Fixed monthly charges up to 24 months period have been reduced to Rs. 50 for modem Type I and Type III and Rs. 80 for Type II and Type IV. Fixed monthly charges after 24 months has been further reduced to Rs. 25 for modem Type I and Type III and Rs. 40 for Type II and Type IV. Modem will be supplied free of cost for all home and business plans of Rs. 750 and above subject to the condition that while surrender of connection, the returnable modem should be in working condition and the connection should have worked for a minimum period of 12 months. Otherwise the sale price will be recovered. For more details, customers could contact the nearest customer service centre or dial 2454545.
