Sushanta Talukdar

Guwahati: Trinitrotoluene (TNT) was used in the three improvised explosive device (IED) blasts in the city on New Year’s Day .

Experts of the State Forensic Science Department revealed this to the State Home Department after preliminary examinations of the blast sites and laboratory analysis of the blast remnants.

A team of experts from the Intelligence Bureau is also scheduled to arrive on Saturday for a first-hand probe, sources said. A senior police official said that forensic experts were conducting more analysis to find out if any programmed time delay device was used or only IEDs packed with TNT.
