FC Calicut aims high
KOZHIKODE: The city-based Chandni FC Calicut, which will make its debut in the next edition of the State Football League, is gearing up for the season ahead.
“We have also been recommended by the Kerala Football Association as one of the three teams from Kerala to be included in the NFL second division,” M.E. Balagopala Kurup, founder secretary of the club, told reporters here on Friday.
“We are glad that our efforts to form a professional club from Kozhikode have been recognised by the football fraternity,” added Mr. Kurup. “We are planning to hire more players, including those from overseas. And we have already appointed former Indian international K.P. Sethumadhavan as the coach. We are confident that with the support from the football lovers of Kozhikode, the club could achieve a lot more.”
Tournament postponed
The inaugural Techcity basketball tournament, scheduled to begin at the Central Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, on Saturday, has been postponed due to non availability of court. The tournament would begin at the same venue on January 10.
