Henry sizzles
NEW DELHI: Nigerian-recruit Henry scored once in each half as Tarun Sangha defeated Sashtri Club 2-0 in a Group ‘B’ preliminary league match of the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) annual senior division open clubs championship at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Friday.
With three points from this match, Tarun Sangha now has seven from two outings while Sashtri Club has only one.
In another tie, Simla Youngs beat Indian Air Force (Palam) 1-0 to record its first victory. Anil Oran netted the all-important goal. Simla Youngs has collected three points from two matches whereas IAF (Palam) is yet to open its account.
Vatsala triumphs
Vatsala Pandey overcame a strong challenge from Karman Kaur to lift the girls’ under-14 singles crown in the Ram Lal Cup talent series tournament at Vasant Kunj here on Friday.
Fourth-seeded Vatsala came back from behind to beat seventh-seeded Karman 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in the title clash of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) junior circuit event.
In the semifinals, Vatsala had defeated Sayesha Dalal 6-0 5-7 7-5 while Karman had got walkover from top-seeded Nehal Sahni.
