PUDUKOTTAI: The ‘Pudukottai Ilakkiya Peravai’ has been playing a pivotal role in honouring those who excel in their chosen fields - be it in education, politics, consumer movement, human activism, religion so on and so forth. Its recent venture in honouring a galaxy of 28 personalities was yet another feather in its cap. Those honoured included the former Minister and president of the Kamban Kazhagam, Chennai, Rm. Veerappan who was conferred with the ‘Lifetime Achiever’ title and former MLA Rasu. Kavithai Pithan. Industrialist, Nalli Kuppusamy, who conferred the title on Mr. Veerappan, commended the Peravai’s efforts which would go a long way in encouraging the awardees to achieve higher laurels in their respective fields. Book releaseThe eighth volume of a book, “Sadhanaiyalargalin Sarithira Pakkangal,” authored by the president of the Peravai, Muthu. Srinivasan was released by the Principal of Shrimati Indira Gandhi College for Women, Tiruchi, K. Meena. The first copy was received by the Chairman of the Chendhooran Educational Institutions, Rama. Vairavan. In his acceptance address, Mr. Veerappan hailed human values as a key to success in one’s life. He cited his association with the late Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran in this regard. The fact that men and women of different organisations and walks of life assembled for the Peravai’s function, testified to its capability in integrating people through humaness. Mr. Srinivasan said that the Peravai had honoured as many as 309 personalities so far. Their biography had been documented and brought out in eight volumes. The president of Tiruvarul Peravai, R. Sampathkumar, introduced the book.
