Nitish Kumar Patna: With a view to reaching out to the common people to hear their grievances, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would undertake a State-wide ‘Vikas Yatra’ (development march) from the third week of January. Mr. Kumar made the announcement during a get-together with people and journalists on the eve of New Year at 1, Anne Marg, the official residence of the Chief Minister on Wednesday. Extending his greetings to the people of the State, Kumar hoped that the New Year would be better than the year gone-by. Stating that the State, which had a glorious past, will have a bright future in 2009 and the year would bring happiness, peace and prosperity for the people of Bihar and the country. “The year 2008 was full of challenges as Bihar fought spiritedly the human suffering caused by the Kosi deluge that hit a whopping 30 lakh people,” he said adding that his biggest concern was to wipe out the tears of the flood victims by rehabilitating them.
The Chief Minister, who would undertake march from January 19, said during the period he would hear the grievances of the people at their doorstep in rural areas and would try to redress their grievances at the earliest. During the march, he would live in tent and would review the progress report of the schemes for which foundation stones were laid and public meetings would also be organised, he said. PTI
