Special Correspondent

VILLUPURAM: The MDMK faction led by L.Ganesan and Ginjee N. Ramachandran, MP, will formally merge with DMK on February 22.

The faction will also take along with it about one lakh cadre from the MDMK and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam to the DMK, according to Mr. Ramachandran.

He told presspersons at Ginjee near here on Thursday that the Vaiko-led MDMK was bereft of any ideology and simply toeing the line of the AIADMK.

The merger would take place in Chennai in the presence of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. On the occasion, he would release the names of the former MLAs and party functionaries who would be switching to the DMK.
