MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) sponsored week-long road safety week was flagged off in the city on Thursday. Apart from disseminating road safety rules, the consequences behind rash and negligent driving, talking over mobile phones and drunken driving would be imparted to vehicle users by trained personnel. Awareness meetingsThe authorities have planned to conduct awareness meetings at educational institutions and talk about the merits of wearing helmets. Special campaignA special campaign vehicle was flagged off by the TNSTC General Manager A. Venkatachalam in the presence of senior officials and trainers. The vehicle would be parked at vantage points in the city for public view. QuizIn a bid to test the knowledge among the students on road safety aspects, quiz programmes would be conducted as part of the road safety week, a press release said.
