Four held on extortion charge

BANGALORE: The HAL police arrested four members of a gang allegedly involved in several cases of extortion and theft.
The police arrested Vinod, Mani, Madan and Murali, all aged between 20 and 21. The accused are residents of Kartick Nagar off Outer Ring Road. The police said the accused had waylaid Bhanu Prasad, an Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. employee and made away with his ATM card on December 6.
The accused withdrew Rs. 76,000 before Prasad instructed his bankers to block the card. The police traced the accused and arrested them on Tuesday. The police have recovered Rs. 9,000 and gold jewellery.
