Cyclist killed

TIRUNELVELI: A cyclist going to attend the midnight New Year special prayers was fatally knocked down.

Police sources said Arockiayasamy (65) of Shanthi Nagar Fifth Street was going to St. Xavier’s Cathedral Church in a cycle. When he reached Manakaavalanpillai Nagar, a speeding van hit the cycle, seriously injuring Arockiyasamy.

Though Palayamkottai Inspector J. Nagarajan came to the spot immediately and took him to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
