Sudan national remanded
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: Guindy police arrested a Sudan national for overstaying his visa period and possessing fake documents.
According to police, Elhab Hassan Usman Ali (34), had come to admit his mother to MIOT hospital on November 16, 2007 for treatment. The two of them were supposed to go back by February 2008. While his mother returned home in January, Ali stayed back. On Tuesday, when he went to Shastri Bhavan planning to leave for Sudan, he was handed over to the Guindy police. Police said that some of the documents in his possession were fake and that his visa had expired. Ali was produced before the IX Metropolitan Magistrate at Saidapet and remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday.
