Yeddyurappa: thrust on development

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will announce his development plan of action on January 9.

Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Yeddyurappa said he had asked all Ministers to remain in Bangalore over the next three months to supervise development works and guide the officers implementing the programmes and schemes announced by the Government.

Mr. Yeddyurappa said he had decided not to file defamation case against the former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (S) leader H.D. Deve Gowda for the allegations of corruption made against him (Mr. Yeddyurappa). However, there was no change in the decision on the defamation case against the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, he said.

The decision on not to file a case against Mr. Deve Gowda was made to create a congenial atmosphere for development.

The Congress, which had been rejected by the people in the byelections, he said, should now give up its path of confrontation and support the development agenda of the Government.

Seeking the cooperation of the Opposition to implement his Government’s welfare measures, the Chief Minister said he would not pursue the “politics of vengeance”.

On the attack on the senior politician G. Made Gowda in Mandya, the Chief Minister said he had immediately transferred the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police and ordered an inquiry by the Regional Commissioner.

Mr. Yeddyurappa, who met Governor Rameshwar Thakur, to invite him to address the joint session of the State legislature in Belgaum , said the Governor’s speech would explain the Government plans in 2009.
