Demolition on at law college

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Demolition work has been going on in full pace at Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College Men’s Hostel building in Kilpauk since Wednesday.

Minister for Public Works and Law Durai Murugan told The Hindu that he wanted the old hostel building demolished so that some space could be created for recreation activities of students.

Personal supervision

He said that he would personally supervise the renovation of the remaining hostel buildings and had instructed PWD engineers to complete the work before the college reopened on January 19.

R. Thirumoorthy, a final year Law College student and hostel resident, said that the students welcomed the decision as the building was dilapidated.
