Medical college alumni meet on Sunday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The third annual convention of the Trivandrum Medical College Alumni Association will be held at the Medical College auditorium on January 4.

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Vayalar Ravi will inaugurate the convention.

The college auditorium, which has been renovated with the help of the alumni, will be inaugurated by Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy. Health Secretary Vishwas Mehta will inaugurate the burns unit at the hospital, which has been upgraded into a modern burns care facility by the association. The 30 scholarships for students instituted by the association will also be distributed on the occasion. The association has instituted two orations, in the names of two eminent teachers of the college in its formative years, K.N. Pai and R. Kesavan Nair. M.S. Valiathan, a student of the first batch of Trivandrum Medical College and the founder-director of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, will deliver the R. Kesavan Nair lecture.
