Panel to monitor private TV programmes

VIZIANAGARAM: Collector G. Ram Narayana Reddy has constituted committee with himself as chairman and Superintendent of Police as the member-secretary to monitor programmes telecast by private television channels. The other members of the team are: Principal of M.R. Women’s College, two NGOs, an educationist, psychologist and sociologist. The committee was formed following complaints received T.V. viewers. The Collector explained dos and don’ts to cable TV operators.

Stressing on the need to maintain harmony and decency, Mr. Reddy said that a complaint cell headed by a nodal officer was being opened. Any violation of TV Network Rules 1994 would be viewed seriously and initiated action under Section 11 of TV Act.
