Cold wave sweeps Delhi, many northern States

New Delhi: A piercing cold wave swept the national capital and several northern States on Wedn`esday, keeping day temperatures down by a few notches even as the dense fog engulfing the areas eased a bit. Amritsar in Punjab and Narnaul in Haryana recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 2.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Rohtak, 4.3 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures in the region saw some increase with Chandigarh recording a low of 7.4 degree C, Ambala 7.5, Hissar 7.4, Karnal 9.4, Ludhiana 9.1 and Patiala 8.8.
