HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president D. Srinivas has said that the AICC will frame guidelines for issue of party tickets in the next general elections. Replying to a query on Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s suggestion that party would consider 70 years as the cut-off age for party tickets, Mr. Srinivas at a press conference here on Wednesday said that the State unit had no role in framing these norms. Stating that he had not read the comments made by Dr. Reddy, he however said that the high command would come up with guidelines before the elections. Asked if he agreed with Dr. Reddy’s observation, he said he would share his views only with the high command. But, he added that efficiency of the individuals indeed counted in allotment of tickets. Mr. Srinivas refused to respond to a question on his poser to the high command that a decision should be taken on separate Telangana before next elections. The APCC president also dismissed the talk that he was still aspiring for the Chief Minister’s post after next election. “My only aim was to become the APCC president, which I have achieved. I have no plans for being in the race for the Chief Minister’s post,” he said. Mr. Srinivas said the party has lined up a fortnight-long ‘Samkshema Utsavalu’ from January 2 all over the State. He would participate in the festival at Miryalaguda on the inaugural day while the AICC observer Prof Kurien would attend a meeting on January 5 in Medak district.
