Wharton students envy Delhi Metro

NEW DELHI: Their tryst with the underground metro rail back home dates back to decades, but when a group of management students from the premier Wharton School of Business were asked on Tuesday to describe the Delhi Metro system, they confessed to feeling “jealous”.
On a visit to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation as part of their curricular commitments, these students were among the lucky few to be present at a preview of the newly set up Metro Museum at the Patel Chowk station. Impressed with the underground infrastructure of the Delhi Metro, Aamir, a student from Wharton said: “Some of us have been to New York and we would like to know if it (New York) ever will have subways as good as these.”
Tongue-in-cheek he added: “We feel jealous.”
Another student, David Retchkiman, said DMRC had emerged as a case study for its efficient use of time and resources. “We are visiting corporate houses as part of our curriculum and DMRC is an example that is studied for its success on completing its work on time in the given budget. Also, it is a company that is a partnership between the Federal, the State Gover-nment and private sector.”
