New Delhi Heroes posts easy win

NEW DELHI: Osian’s New Delhi Heroes Club and Ahbab Club registered victories over their respective opponents in group ‘A’ preliminary league matches in the Delhi Soccer Association annual senior division football league championship at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday.

New Delhi Heroes scored a convincing 3-1 victory over two-time champion Indian Air Force (New Delhi) to secure three points. New Delhi Heroes has four points from two games while Indian Air Force is yet to open its account after two matches.

New Delhi Heroes took the lead in the 12th minute through Nigerian striker Stanley Cyprian who converted a penalty kick.

On changing ends, New Delhi Heroes consolidated its lead through S. Satish Kumar who struck on his second attempt after rival goalkeeper M. K. Jena fumbled under the bar.

Nagen Tamang completed the tally in the 68th minute. For Indian Air force, R. Thapliyal was the scorer.

In the first match of the day, Ahbab Club scored its second straight victory when it edged past Shahdara Club 1-0. The all important goal was scored by Faisal Bin Osman off a fine cross sent by Tarsem Singh in the 36th minute.

Ahbab has six points from two matches while Shahdara has none.
