Mumbai retains title

KARAIKUDI: Mumbai defeated Calicut by 70 runs to retain the title in the South West Zone inter-university cricket tournament for women here on Tuesday.

In the third place match, Devi Ahilya got a walk over from Gujarat.

All the four teams have qualified for the all-India inter-zone inter-university tournament, which begins at the Alagappa varsity on Friday (January 2).

The scores: Final: Mumbai 218 for nine in 50 overs (Apoorva 69, Akshada 47, Shani three for 40) bt Calicut 148 in 48.1 overs (Shani 33). Third place: Devi Ahilya w/o Gujarat.
