Paramanu HC wins

CHENNAI: Paramanu HC emerged the CHA first division champion after beating Tamil Nadu Postal 6-4, via the tie-breaker, at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Monday.

The teams were locked 3-3 at the end of regulation time.

Balasubramaniam put Paramanu ahead in the fifth minute but Postal equalised through Kamalakannan’s penalty corner.

Postal then forged ahead through Jawahar’s penalty corner before Peter Thondaiman ensured parity.

It was Paramanu’s turn to lead 3-2 when Souri converted a penalty corner. But Reaz Ahmed ensured a draw late in the second session.

In the tie-breaker, Postal had only Premkumar’s goal to show whereas Ramesh, Praveen and Suresh converted for Paramanu.

Breezing through

Earlier on Sunday, Paramanu had the measure of RBI 4-1 in the second semifinal.

Ramesh, Praveen, Balasubramanian and Souri scored for Paramanu while Stephen reduced the margin.

The vice-president of TNHA, Saleem Khan, gave away the prizes.
