CPI (M) to submit blueprint to Centre soon: MLA

It suggests holistic development in Tirupur

Tirupur: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) will soon submit a blueprint being prepared by its research team to the Central Government suggesting a holistic infrastructure development in Tirupur knitwear cluster at a cost of Rs. 500 crore, according to Tirupur MLA C. Govindasamy.

Allocation of funds

He told reporters here on Monday that the draft proposal would propound allocation of funds under the schemes meant for the improvement of transport and living facilities in towns of export excellence.

“At present, lakhs of migrant workforce who have adopted Tirupur as a home away from home are facing the brunt of congestion as the basic amenities in the city have not improved to commensurate with the population explosion witnessed in the last 35 years,” he said.

Requirements

The document would highlight the infrastructural requirements needed for the city to overcome traffic clogs during the peak hours, which was essential for the growth of exports from the region.

Besides, suggestions would be made to improve medical facilities in areas wherever the health indictors were weak, augment the supply of drinking water and improve drainage facilities to prevent water stagnation in the city, to cater to the population projected in the next 30 years.

Metro rail

Mr. Govindasamy said that in a separate memorandum, the party would recommend to the Centre to establish a metro rail network like the ones in Delhi and Kolkata, offering circular service along Tirupur-Avinashi-Coimbatore-Palladam-Tirupur route.

“This will ease the load on road and surface railway networks considerably, besides saving commuting time for people on Tirupur-Coimbatore sector,” Mr. Govindasamy said.
