We are happy to learn that the Commissioner of Railway Safety has cleared the newly laid BG track between Tiruvarur and Nagore for regular traffic. The Railways should introduce trains in this track with immediate effect as the people have been suffering very much for a long time. The Railways could have a formal inauguration with much fanfare by inviting the Chief Minister at a later date. D. Rajeswari, Nagapattinam. Clarification vague The clarification of the Divisional Engineer (Administration), BSNL, Tiruchi in this column (The Hindu, dated December 23) seems to be vague. He has not replied for the main problem of the mobile users, i.e., unwanted mobile text messages which causes a lot of inconveniences and to be stopped immediately. Janakimaindhan S.Raj, OFT. Darkness at airportI went to Tiruchi Airport on December 25 at 2.45 a.m. to see off a relative of mine proceeding to Chennai. It was pathetic to see that, even when the terror attack in Mumbai is fresh in public memory, that the airport was in utter darkness and had just two security guards. Passengers had to wait outside in the darkness. Passenger amenities and security arrangements need attention. K. Srinivasan, T.V.Koil. Act against litterIt is a pity we blame the Corporation staff for neglecting their duties when we see a lot of papers and plastic scrap thrown on the streets. The Corporation should take stern action against street vendors and shop-keepers. Shop keepers should be compelled to keep waste bins within their premises and deliver to Corporation staff. T. Rangasamy, Srirangam. Model facilitiesVideo conferencing, unlimited internet browsing with eight MBPS connectivity, a digital library, sprawling lecture rooms and many more facilities are available at St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchi. This should be considered as a model for all educational institutions. S. Raghavan, N.I.T., Tiruchi. Restore low-floor busesThe State Transport Corporation has withdrawn the low floor city buses on certain routes. The bus was a great help to disabled, senior citizens and children. I request the authorities to restore the services. R. Suresh, Woraiyur. Stray dog menaceThe roaming of stray cattle and dogs in Khajamalai and surrounding areas is causing nuisance. I request the Corporation authorities to check this with immediate effect. Mohamed Ghouse Munavary, R. S. Puram.
