DVAC personnel round up 30 brokers
|
KARUR: Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption swooped on the Regional Transport Office, Karur, cracked down on the brokers and rounded up 30 of them on Monday.
A team of DVAC personnel from Tiruchi, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, RM. Ambikapathy, arrived at the RTO Office on Dindigul road just past noon and shut the gates of the compound housing the RTO office. They then systematically went about enquiring those present in the area.
If they were found to be having any genuine work at the office and were possessing papers for the work, they were left off.
The sleuths then singled out the brokers who haunted the office and rounded up as many as 30 of them. Their interrogation lengthened well past evening. Sources in the DVAC said the search operation did not emanate from any specific complaint and that no officer was picked up or detained during the course of the day.
Monday’s search operations by the DVAC at the RTO office followed the swoop on the Karur District Revenue Officer a couple of days back. The DRO and his camp clerk were arrested for demanding and accepting bribe.
