Venkatesham in last four

HYDERABAD: K. Venkatesham of Hyderabad defeated his teammate M. Jayakrishna 26-48, 55-38, 69-64, 71-44, 75-13 in the snooker quarterfinals of the LVR Open billiards and snooker tournament being held in Guntur on Monday, according to information received here.

Bolarum Sporting and Accountant Generals Office (AP) were locked in a one-all draw in the SAAP Budweiser Premier League football championship at Gymkhana Grounds here.

It was AG’s office who took the lead in the seventh minute when striker Mangbui was on target off a neat pass from midfielder Anburaj. At half-time, AGAP led 1-0.

In the second session, Sporting fought back well to score the equaliser through Prakash in the 50th minute when he headed a fine cross from Rafiq.

Laxman scores hat-trick

Centre-forward Laxman Rao scored a hat-trick to help BHEL Ramachandrapuram record a 3-1 win over TPI in the B-Division hockey league championship at Gymkhana Grounds here. For the loser, centre-forward Giyasuddin reduced the margin.

Yash enters final

Yash Puri defeated Tharun Anirudh 8-2 to enter the boys’ under-12 final of the Ganesh Raman Academy sub-juniors tennis tournament here.

Good spell by Shiva Kumar

A good spell by Shiva Kumar (five for 19) helped Kun United record a 24-run win over NMDC in the fourth Country Oven corporate Olympiad cricket tournament here.

The scores: The Hindu 143 for eight (Sridhar 59) bt Capgemini 106 for nine (Dilip 45, Satish four for six).

Microsoft 98 lost to Hyderabad House 99 for four.

Swaroop shines

A fine all-round show by former Ranji star R.A. Swaroop, who struck 49 and then claimed three for 20, helped Grasshoppers XI score a 23-run win over Retrievers XI in the Twenty-20 veterans cricket match organised by Veterans Cricket Association of Hyderabad here.

The scores: Grasshoppers XI 124 in 20 overs (R.A. Swaroop 49, Kiran three for seven) bt Retrievers XI 101 in 20 overs (Sachin Singh 32, R. A. Swaroop three for 20).
