Karnataka bypoll results likely by noon

Bangalore: The counting of votes polled in the December 27 byelections to the eight Legislative Assembly constituencies in Karnataka will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. The results are expected to be announced by noon.

According to a senior officer in the Chief Electoral Officer’s Secretariat here, the counting of votes in Doddaballapur, Maddur, Madhugiri, Turuvekere, Devadurga, Karwar, Arabhavi and Hukkeri constituencies would begin at the district headquarters of Bangalore, Mandya, Tumkur, Raichur, Uttara Kannada and Belgaum respectively. Vote-counting officers would begin work in the presence of the candidates or their agents, at the respective places.
