Four children killed in road accident

Chitradurga: Four children were killed and 11 people were injured on Monday, when a jeep hit them as they were going in a procession near Challekere on State Highway 19.
According to the police, the procession was held in the name of a local deity. The jeep said to be of a Kannada organisation ran over the children near Gopalahalli Cross at about 7 p.m. Chikkanna, Manu, Mahalingappa and Badari, aged between nine and 13, were killed on the spot. Some of the injured were shifted to Chitradurga district hospital.
The Challakere police have registered a case.
The driver of the jeep has been arrested and the vehicle has been seized.
