SALEM: The Institutes of Road Transport will provide training in heavy vehicle driving free of cost to those belonging to the backward, most backward and de-notified communities. The applicants’ age should be between 20 and 28 years as on January 1, 2009 and completed Standard X. Their annual income should be below Rs. 1 lakh. They should possess medium Motor Vehicle Driving licence. The duration of the training is 12 weeks, a press release said. CentresThe training will be provided in the Institute’s training centres in Salem, Pollachi, Gummidipoondi, Tiruchi and Madurai. The application in prescribed format along with photocopies of educational qualification, community and income certificates, and copy of the driving licence should be sent to the Special Officer, Institute of Road Transport, Gummidipoondi, Tiruvallur district. The last date is January 9.
