‘Implement Chaddha panel report in full’

Correspondent

Karwar: Instead of implementing the report of Prof. G. K. Chaddha committee which was appointed for the UGC (University grant Commission) pay revision completely, the Union Government is implementing only few recommendations of the committee, lamented Lingaraj Angadi, State secretary of the All India University and College Lecturers’ Association. Addressing presspersons in Dandeli on Sunday, Prof. Angadi said the Centre should consider the resolution of the meeting of the association, held in Bangalore in October. He urged the government to implement the Chaddha committee report in full. He said that the instead of leaving the responsibility of implementing the recommendation of 6th pay commission to the State Governments, the Centre should pass an ordinance and ensure that it was implemented throughout the country.

He said that his organisation demanded that the salary of university and college lecturers should be at par with IAS officers and should be given ‘A’ grade salary.

The lecturers who have achieved the distinction in the research ad the teaching should be given special increment. He urged for the correction in the disparity of salary in the report 5th pay commission.

He said a meeting of the organisation has been called on January 4 in Delhi to chalk out the programme for pressuring the Centre to fulfil the demands. Gandhian way would be adopted to draw the attention of the Centre, he added.
