Take care: R. Balasubramanian of the Consumer Protection Council, Erode, addressing students of Sengunthar Girls Higher Secondary School as part of the Consumer Awareness Week celebrations. Clothes were distributed to persons suffering from leprosy during the Christmas celebrations in Montfort Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary school in Yercaud. The patients were invited to the school premises for the celebrations and sweets were distributed to them. A sumptuous lunch was also provided to them. School Principal K.J. George, Director Bro. Ignatius and Montfort Brothers distributed the clothes to the beneficiaries. ExhibitionShri Swamy Matriculation School in Ayodhyapattinam in Salem organised an open house exhibition. Over 200 students of the school participated in the event and displayed working models based on various concepts of science and technology. The models included fire and burglary alarm, magic fire, vermiculture and mushroom culture. Models of Eiffel Tower, TajMahal, cricket and foot ball stadium were displayed. School Chairman S. Swaminathan, inaugurating the exhibition, said that the objective of the event was to create interest towards learning. Consumer Awareness WeekStudents of Sengunthar Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Erode, were told how to be cautious as a consumer. At the recently held Consumer Awareness Week celebrations, R. Balasubramanian of Consumer Protection Council, Erode, told the students to check for nutrition facts in packed commodities, especially foods that contained high carbohydrates. He also explained the ill effects of having food cooked from reused oil, junk food and food from road-side eateries. This was in keeping with the current year’s theme of food safety. Mr. Balasubramanian also explained the growth of obesity and diabetes in youngsters and asked them to cautious. President of Sengunthar group of institutions J. Sudhanandhen and Head Mistress R. Sarojini were also present on the occasion. Shrishti 2008The Indian Public School, Erode, recently held SHRISHTI 2008, an arts and science exhibition. A release from the institution says the exhibition, part of the teaching-learning process, was inaugurated by D. Chandrasekar, secretary Vellalar group of institutions, in the presence of S. Arumugam, CEO, Nandha group of institutions, S. Chinnusami, chairman, S.P. Viswanathan, CEO, and R. Kuppusamy, member of the school’s management committee. The students put up a good display of exhibits based on their subjects and the exhibits were innovative in that the students managed to bring out the educational aspects behind it.
