Srikanth fashions Independent’s win

HYDERABAD: Srikanth Yadav scored a hat-trick to fashion Independent Club’s impressive 6-0 win over Republican Boys Club in the B-Division hockey league championship match at Gymkhana Grounds here on Sunday.

Srikanth got his hat-trick after G. Srinivas had struck a brace and V. Ravi netted off a fine solo effort.

In another match, striker Rajasekhar continued his good form scoring four goals today, to follow up his hat-trick yesterday, to guide Secunderabad Sporting to an 8-0 win over Youth Association.

The winner led 7-0 at the break.

M. Satya and Ateeq-ul-Rehman struck two goals apiece to complete the tally for the winner.

Hyderabad Globe wins

Hyderabad Globe recorded a 1-0 win over EME Centre in the SAAP Budweiser Premier League football championship at Gymkhana Grounds.

The match-winner came in the 57th minute when right-winger Nikhesh was on target off a pass from Mario.

In another match, South Central Railway rallied to hold Bharat Dynamics Ltd. to a 2-2 draw. Azeem gave the Railwaymen the lead in the second minute.

BDL equalised in the 16th minute when Ehtesham scored and went ahead in the 38th minute through Sekhar.

However, SCR fought back to level the scores in the 55th minute through Mouzzam.

Yudhvir slams ton

A century by Yudhvir Singgh (105) helped Nizam College post a 129-run win over Bhavan’s New Science College in the Osmania University inter-collegiate tournament here.

Hindi Vidyalaya 121 (Raj 35, Shandilya four for 20, Yuvraj Yadav three for 30) lost to SP College 124 for two (Benjamin Thomas 72).

Aurora Degree & PG College 283 (Abhishek 50, Ashish Reddy 39, G.V. Sridhar 60, Sandeep Rajan 42, Sanjay three for 65) bt Loyola Academy 75 (Ashish Reddy three for four, Shekar three for 17).

Nizam College 213 for nine (Yudhvir Singh 105, Anand 54, Zaheer three for 35) bt Bhavan’s New Science College 84 (Zaheer 41, Bhargav Anand 5 five for 22, Aushotosh Kumar five for five).

Sankar in quarterfinals

S. Sankar of LVR defeated Deepak Roopani of Literary Association of Kakinada 75-43, 61-24, 77-69 in the pre-quarterfinals of the LVR Invitational open billiards and snooker tournament in Guntur.
