Ramanarasu passes away

TIRUCHI: S. Ramanarasu, former Special Correspondent of The Hindu, Tiruchi, passed away in Bangalore on Sunday. He was 76. He is survived by two sons and two daughters.

In his journalistic career spanning nearly four decades, he served at Vellore, Thanjavur, Chidambaram and other centres, besides Tiruchi in Tamil Nadu. Mr. Ramanarasu had a close rapport with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. His well-wishers included a galaxy of leaders including Kamaraj, C.N. Annadurai, M.G. Ramachandran, G.K. Moopanar and M. Kalyanasundaram.

After retiring from service, Ramanarasu was the ‘dharmadhikari’ of the Sringeri Sankara Mutt at Srirangam and was responsible for the renovation of the Sri Saradambal Temple and Vedapatasala.
