Manjunath scalps five to set up Imtiaz CA’s win

CHENNAI: Manjunath’s spell of five for 16 was the highlight of Bangalore’s Imtiaz CA’s 27-run win over Kedar CA in an under-17 match of the Pepsi Cup cricket series, organised by Kedar CA here.

The scores: U-11: Kedar CA 162 for eight in 25 overs (P.B. Anirudh 66, L. Likith three for 29) bt Imtiaz CA 150 in 22.5 overs (L. Likith 60, Aashish three for 27, Chandramouli three for 20). U-14: Imtiaz CA 215 for five in 30 overs (Aaditya 32, Ankit 28, Ashwin 50, Kumal 32, Yashawi 28) bt Kedar CA 118 in 29.5 overs (Ankit Udupa three for seven). U-15: Kedar CA 193 for nine in 45 overs (R. Rishab 75, Srihari 30 n.o., Shantanu three for 24, Jayanth three for 37, Shravan three for 32) bt Florence PS (Bangalore) 147 in 42.1 overs (Kiran Moore 30, B. Karthik four for 23, M.S. Saiprakash sizzles

V. Saiprakash claimed four wickets and scored an unbeaten 26 off 11 balls to guide CSSF to a five-wicket win over VBCA in the Prahlad Cricket Academy tournament.

The scores: FSCA 141 in 28.2 overs (Shravan three for 23, Koushik three for 20) bt AJCA 130 for eight in 29 overs (Mitrakantha 33, Siddesh 31); Prahlad CA ‘A’ 176 for six in 30 overs (S. Vivek triumphs

Vivek Reddy defeated Shunmugam 6-1, 6-2 to win the men’s singles title in The Hindu-Sportstar-KTC tennis tournament on Saturday.

Chess tournament

The Tiruvallur District Chess Association will conduct the district boys and girls under- 7, 9, 11 and 13 championship for the Jaya Rolling Trophies on January 10 and 11, 2009 at the Jaya Matriculation HSS, CTH Road, Thiruninravur.

Fencing trials

Trials to select the Tamil Nadu fencing girls’ under-19 team to take part in the School Games of India’s National competition will be held on December 30 at 7 a.m. at the Nehru Stadium.
