Guwahati: Twelve days after he was replaced with a new leader, Bangladesh-based leader of the outlawed National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) Ransaigra Nabla Daimari (alias D.R. Nabla or Ranjan Daimari) on Saturday claimed he was still the president of the outfit. In a press release e-mailed to newspaper offices, D.R. Nabla stated: “I may not be the president of the NDFB of those who have capitulated the ideology and principles of the NDFB by submitting a memorandum on the 30th September, 2008, to the government of India and who have adopted a resolution to take part in Indian elections but I am still the president of the NDFB that has been fighting for the last 22 years for the right to national self-determination, independence and sovereignty of the Boro people. I am still the president of the NDFB to carry out the principles and ideology that enshrined in the constitution and manifesto of the NDFB.” The general assembly of the NDFB on December 15 replaced Daimari with a new leader, B. Sungthagra (alias Dhiren Boro). The assembly, which met at the Khumguri designated camp at Serfanguri in Assam’s Kokrajhar district, also dissolved the national council and constituted a new 15-member council. Mr. Daimari said that whatever may happen, as a president he will “never surrender the ideology and principles for which thousands have embraced martyrdom and fought for 22 years.” “We cannot compromise with those who have deviated from the ideology and principles of the NDFB… ,” he added.
