8 arrested for causing nuisance

CHENNAI: Pulianthope police on Saturday arrested eight persons belonging to Rajiv Rahul Peravai for causing nuisance in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue on Poonamallee High Road.

Police said the arrested included R.R. Nagarajan, who heads the Peravai.

Around 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nagarajan, dressed as Mahatma Gandhi, along with seven others, staged a sit-in demanding the arrest of Thol. Thirumavalavan, founder of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi.

All eight men were released in the evening, police said.
