Four records set on opening day

MYSORE: On a hectic opening day packed with 40 events, four meet marks were established in the State short-course swimming championship at De Paul International Residential School pool here on Saturday.

Hogging the limelight in the boys’ group I section were, Aditya Roshan of K.C. Reddy Swim Centre and Prajwal of BAC. Roshan who won the 100m breaststroke with a new meet mark of 1:08.77s also claimed the 400m individual medley gold in 4:54.34s.

Prajwal won golds in 400m freestyle and 100m butterfly events.

The three other records came in the girls’ section, with Sushaka Pratap of BAC setting a new meet mark in the group I 400m freestyle with 4:45.58s, while international Madhavi Giri of BAC churned up a new record in 100m breaststroke, clocking 1:22.26.

T. Sneha accounted for the lone record in Group II, when she won the 100m freestyle in 1:02.15s . Sneha also won the 100m butterfly gold.

Boys: Group I: 400m freestyle: Prajwal (BAC, 4:48.57s). 100m freestyle: Prakyath Raj (MAC, 1:00.43). 100m breaststroke: Aditya Roshan (KCR, 1:08.77s. NMR; Old: 1:09.92s . 100m butterfly: Prajwal (1:12.13s). 400m individual medley: Aditya Roshan (4: 54.34s). 4 x 100m medley relay: SJIHS (2:28.06s).

Group II: 100m freestyle: Prasidh P. Kumar (BAC, 59.96s). 200m freestyle: Prasidh P. Kumar (2:08.02). 100m backstroke: Varun Rao (KCR, 1:11.43). 200m backstroke: Shreyas (BAC, 2:33.43s). 100m butterfly: Suvan (KCR, 1:06.25s). 4 x 25 medley relay: KCR (2:07.08).

Group III: 100m freestyle: R. Akilesh (KCR, 1:03.94). 50m butterfly: S.V. Sumukh (BAC, 31.63s). 50m breaststroke: M. Aravind (BAC, 37.27s). 100m backstroke: M. Aravind (1:13.17s). 4 x 25m freestyle relay: BAC ‘A’ (56.88s).

Group IV: 100m freestyle: Md. Yaqoob Saleem (PMSC, 1:10.25s). 50m backstroke: Md. Yaqoob Saleem (PMSC, 37.22s). 4 x 25m freestyle relay: PMSC (1:01.25s).

Girls: Group I: 100m freestyle: K.G. Sindhura (BAC, 1:08.13s). 400m freestyle: Sushaka Pratap (BAC, 4:45.58s, NMR; Old: 4:48.12s). 100m butterfly: P. Sushaka (BAC, 1:1.2.13s). 100m breaststroke: Madhavi Giri (BAC, 1:22.26s. NMR; Old: 1:22.28s).

Group II: 100m freestyle: T. Sneha (BAC, 1:02.15s. NMR; Old: 1:02.17s). 200m freestyle: Pratima Kollal (KCR, 2:16.38s). 100m butterfly: T. Sneha (1:10.85s ). 100m backstroke: Meghana (BAC, 1:1.5.38). 200m backstroke: Meghana (2:40.03).

Group III: 100m freestyle: Thulasi R. Haritsa (BAC, 1:06.72s). 50m breaststroke: Divya Guruswamy (KCR, 39.37s). 50m butterfly: B. Ishwarya (BAC, 33.97s). 100m backstroke: B. Ishwarya (1:19.97s). 4x 25m freestyle relay: BAC ‘A’ (1:01.85s).

Group IV: 100m freestyle: V. Malavika (BAC, 1:09.09). 50m backstroke: Damini K. Gowda (BAC 37.29s).
