VISAKHAPATNAM: Karnataka went down by 31 runs to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana beat Baroda by seven wickets in the quarterfinals of the Cooch Behar Trophy all-India cricket tournament here on Saturday. Karnataka medium-pacer A. Mithun finished with a nine-wicket haul in the second innings. U.P. left-arm spinner Gagandeep Singh, who picked up eight wickets in the first innings scalped another four in the second knock while medium-pacer Israr Azeem claimed five wickets. U.P. takes on Punjab and Haryana faces Mumbai in the semifinals here from January 2 to 5, 2009. The scores: Uttar Pradesh 327 and 182 in 54.3 overs (Ankit Tiwari 72, Gagandeep Singh 59, A. Mithun nine for 79) bt Karnataka 251 and 227 in 69 overs (Karun Nair 58, Pawan Deshpande 36, A. Mithun 35, Israr Azeem five for 71, Gagandeep Singh four for 68). Baroda 270 and 268 for nine in 61 overs (Shailesh Solanki 97, Monil Patel 62, Hitesh Solanki 44, Rahul four for 70) lost to Haryana 393 and 149 for three in 27.1 overs (Jayant Yadav 45, M.
