Bawana power plant to be ready before C’wealth Games

NEW DELHI: Expressing satisfaction over the pace of work at the upcoming 1,500-MW gas-based power plant here in Bawana, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday said the project would be commissioned before the start of the Commonwealth Games in October 2010.

Ms. Dikshit, who undertook a tour of the power plant accompanied by Union Minister of State for Power Jairam Ramesh, said the 1,500-MW gas-based combined cycle power project — Pragati Power III — was also being considered for mega power status certificate.

Mr. Jairam Ramesh assured the Delhi government of all possible cooperation from his Ministry for timely completion of the power project.
