‘Samabandhi Bojan’ held

NAMAKKAL: To combat the stigma associated with the HIV/AIDS and show care and support for people affected by the virus, the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society and Namakkal district administration conducted a Samabandhi Bojan here recently.
The event was also aimed at dispelling the misconceptions among people about HIV/AIDS and encouraging people to provide the much-needed care and affection to the people living with HIV/AIDS.
Collector U. Sagayam, after having lunch with people living with HIV/AIDS, said the stigma and discrimination should be removed to effectively fight the disease.
The district administration was making all necessary efforts to provide support and rehabilitation to those affected by the virus.
Efforts were being made to extend advanced treatment to those affected, in the Namakkal government hospital.
Joint Director of Health P. Ilango, Deputy Director of Health Sekar, Deputy Director of Medical Services (Tuberculosis) Uthayasankar, senior officials, were among those who participated in the event.
