State’s gift: Free dhothis and saris being sent to taluk offices in the district from Krishnagiri taluk office on Saturday. KRISHNAGIRI: One lakh thirty seven thousand and seventeen free dhothis and saris will be distributed to families living below the poverty line in all the 8 firkas in Krishnagiri taluk, Tahsildar C. Chokkan said. Mr. Chokkan told ‘The Hindu’ that the revenue department is making all arrangements for the smooth distribution of dhothis and saris to the poor families in the taluk. On Saturday, two loads of cloth materials were sent to Kaveripattinam and Periamuthur firkas from the Krishnagiri taluk office, Chokkan added. About 4, 07,581 dhothies and 4, 07,442 saris will be distributed through 930 fair price shops in the district.Collector V.K. Shanmugam conducted a meeting on December 23 here on Krishnagiri. DRO, RDOs, District Adi Dravidar and Tribals Welfare Officer, District Supply Officer, Tahsildars, BDOs, Co-operative Jt. Registrar and officials from Civil Supplies Department participated.
