26 in fray for by-poll

MADURAI: Twenty-six candidates are in fray for the Thirumangalam by-election, scheduled to be held on January 9, according to officials. Officials said here on Friday that after withdrawal and scrutiny of nominations, a total of 26 candidates are contesting the poll.

The election observer, Sunil Kumar Kujur, was expected to visit the constituency on Saturday, the officials added.
